Job Title: Bible Co-Leader (Part-Time)

Reports to: Lead Pastor

Department: Pastoral Office

POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:   

The Bible Co-Leader is responsible for teaching the bible in the church. This is achieved through teaching in small groups, bible study groups, and other settings. Bible Co-Leaders work to encourage worshippers to have encounters with Christ throughout their week. Encounters create space for God to continue his good work in us. Bible Co-Leaders will creatively work with worshippers to live out their faith and continue learning from the Bible.

Education, Experience, and Knowledge Preferences:

Minimum Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:

o   Bachelor’s degree

o   Leadership background in leading and building small teams or groups.

o   2+ years of experience leading small groups and bible studies.

o   Previous experience in leading classroom style learning.

 

Preferred Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:

o   Master of Divinity (MDiv) or MA Theology, or ability to complete soon.

o   A Pastor or Deaconess status in the LCMS, or abiltity to obtain soon.

o   Previous teaching pastor experience.

Necessary Skills and Abilities:

  • Biblical & Theological Foundation: A robust education in scripture, theology, and church history. Ability to teach scripture in a relatable way to listeners.

  • Spiritual Maturity: Demonstrated humility, patience, a deep faith, and a commitment to prayer and Bible reading.

  • Leadership Skills: The ability to communicate, work with people, build relationships, and create small groups or teams.

  • Ministerial Experience: Previous experience in leading small group bible studies.

  • Biblical Qualifications: Candidates must possess the qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:  

  • Spiritual Leadership: The Bible Co-Leader walks along each worshipper’s faith walk and continued learning of the bible. 

  • Vision and Strategy: The Bible Co-Leader works with worshippers to engage them in weekly encounters with Christ through small groups and bible studies, meeting them where they are at in their faith walk.

  • Small Group Oversight: The Bible Co-Leader creates and develops bible study materials for our spiritual formation programs and will teach these programs.

  • Faith Walk: The Bible Co-Leader is responsible for the spiritual formation of our worshippers, walking along with them in their faith walk.

  • Ministry Coordination: The Bible Co-Leader organizes and works with the Lead Pastor and leads one or two of our Ministry teams. Our ministry teams are Formation, NexGen, Fellowship, Outreach, and Community Care.

  • Administrative duties: The Bible Co-Leader will also serve the church in various administrative roles, including marketing, worship planning, and worship production, as assigned by the Lead Pastor.
